Bath People First was set up by disabled people especially those with learning difficulties in Bath and North East Somerset.

Bath People First supports members to be involved in improving services locally and nationally.

This happens by getting involved in work such as Human Rights, Disability Equality, personal budgets, health, housing and employment.

Our members want to become more confident self and peer advocates so they can have more control and move towards independent living. This does not mean having to live alone - it is about getting the support you need.

It is about choice.

We run training courses and groups for members to practise speaking with confidence.

We work with other organisations so that the quality of life can get better for people with a learning difficulty.

We now run Equality B&NES – a voice for disabled people.

This group works together with other disabled people and user-led organisations to help the Council, NHS B&NES, education sector and businesses to make decisions and deliver better services for disabled people.
